The following requirements we need from you in order to be able to activate the dial pad. The dial pad will allow the user to make calls to mobiles and landlines.
In this article:
1. Global Admin Account Configured
3. Configure User To New Domain
Global Admin Account Configured
The global admin account allows us to configure the custom domain in your Office 365 and the basic telephone framework for the connection between Microsoft and the telephone equipment.
Custom Domain Configured
Below are steps if you are configuring the domain. Otherwise, we will do the below via scripts.
Click on Add domain
Type in your domain name provided by your partner or by us.
Choose to Add the TXT record to the domain's DNS records.
Provide the TXT value to your partner, so they can configure the DNS.
Click Verify. You might have to wait 1-2 minutes. Next step is to add the DNS records. Choose the following below.
The only setting you want enabled is Skype For Business.
Click Continue, and if the DNS entries were added correctly, then you should get a screen like this which shows your domain is setup properly.
Configure User To New Domain
This new domain will not work unless you have one single user configured with it at all times. Usually, we leave our test user on this domain and just reset all permissions after telephony is setup and tested.
Go back to Active users and edit the test user
Choose the new domain and click Save
Enable user for Telephony
Each user will require a Microsoft License ( Pick one of any of the following) :
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic
- Microsoft 365 Business Standard
- Microsoft 365 Business Advanced
- E1
- E3
- E5
All of the licenses above require a Microsoft Phone System License per user (about $11) except the E5 license already includes this.
